Reflections
September 23rd, 2006Sometimes realistic painting can look unreal, as with the reflection of the foot of this bowl in the bowl itself. Should the artist be faithful to reality, even when it is confusing? Hanneke van Oosterhout struggles with this question in Follow the Painting.

First of all Hanneke van Oosterhout is a great painter, whatever her choice I am sure it will turn out interesting. I can see what you mean by not looking real but I think if its painted from observation staying true to it will be more appreciated
As a painter I normally change and distort things from reality, ignoring many facts of the nature of the represented objects as making my point is more important, but that is my style. Whatever works for this artist I am sure will turn out really good!
