Do art and blogging mix?

June 3rd, 2006

I asked Arthur Whitman about his secret for blogging success. He denied he has had much success, but his advice was interesting nonetheless:

I would just say write well, in your own voice, about things you know and care about.

I’ve been consumed with my artwork lately and all but stopped blogging. I realize though that this might be the perfect time to write on what I “know and care about.” I’m going to try picking up the blog again, with a focus on what I am doing from day to day with my painting and sculpture.

Karl Zipser it would be really interesting to know more about you personally as an artist, like a bit more of your biography as well. Where you come from, where you live, your nationality and what inspires you as an artist, where you work can be seen for example. You come out rather unknown and mysterious on the net, which in a way is also interesting and leaves me wonder if is voluntary. When I watch a program or read a book about an artist I find fascinating their lives and how do their overcome their difficulties etc. Like my blog is about how I cope with being a mother and a full time artist and my true feelings.
Maybe people that follow your blog like myself are interested in a bit more of your history and works but if you prefer to keep your anonymity that is also fine. What do you think? I am just suggesting. Regards.

PS I had no idea you do sculpture as well until this post. :-)

I thought my advice was pretty obvious and cliched, if valid. glad you found it useful.
